Where can I play GPS Fishtrap?

When choosing a place to play GPS Fishtrap, consider three factors:

  • Safety - To protect yourself and bystanders, play in areas designed for pedestrian use. Avoid traffic, uneven ground, low overhangs, and other hazards.
  • GPS signal - To maximize your phone's GPS performance, play in areas with cell phone network coverage and plenty of wide-open sky. Avoid trees, tall buildings, covered walkways, etc.
  • Game strategy - To ensure that you can access the fish you want to collect, play in areas with plenty of room to maneuver.

Does playing GPS Fishtrap reveal my location to others?

No!  Location data generated by the game stays on the handset. Your GPS data is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone in any way.

Isn't it hazardous to play a cell phone game while walking?

GPS Fishtrap (like any good game) can be cognitively engaging, so we recommend that you play in areas designed for pedestrian safety.

The folks at Glofun Labs have been designing and testing entertainment software for pedestrians since 2000. We find that humans are remarkably adept at using peripheral vision to avoid obstacles. Nonetheless, we've designed this pedestrian game to require only intermittent attention from the player - no sudden "life or death" situations, no "fast twitch" gameplay, very forgiving of mistakes. To further help the player stay tuned into the real world, the game provides audio and vibrate alerts, and its visual design allows you to play using quick glances at the screen.

Is there a multiplayer version of GPS Fishtrap?

Not yet. Should we? Let us know.

I can't reach a trap I deployed. What should I do?

First, try patience. A deployed trap tends to drift a bit, so it might drift back into range.

If that doesn't work, you can hire a hand to retrieve your traps for you. (You earn this option at the Boss level.) Because the hired hand keeps half of the fish he collects, you can minimize his cost by first pulling all the traps that you can reach before sending out the hired hand.
